Global Tuberculosis Report 2023

Overview

The WHO Global Tuberculosis Report 2023 provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic and of progress in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, at global, regional and country levels. This is done in the context of global TB commitments, strategies and targets.

The 2023 edition of the report is, as usual, based primarily on data gathered by WHO from national ministries of health in annual rounds of data collection. In 2023, 192 countries and areas with more than 99% of the world’s population and TB cases reported data.

The report format is designed to optimize web or app-based access and use and has three main components. There is a short main report that focuses on key findings and messages; webpages containing more detailed and digitized content, including many interactive graphics; and an app containing country, regional and global profiles as well as two slide-sets. This report format allows content to be made available in relatively small and “bite-sized” chunks, which facilitates navigation, reading and use.

All content can be accessed from the report landing page (this page) and all data can be downloaded from WHO’s online global TB database.

Global TB reports from previous years can be found here.
